Tony Butts

My name is Lloyd F. Butts, better known in the community as Tony. My wife Marlene and I have lived in Trousdale County since 1990, 24 years. She volunteered at the Community Help Center for many years. We served as trustees on the local Fred Vaught and regional Highland Rim Library Boards for 13 years. We are active members of Hartsville First Baptist Church where I have served as deacon for a number of years. I have previously served from 1990-1998 as District 10 county commissioner.

We were interested in service to our new home community from the start.

I am a native Tennessean, United States Air Force Korean veteran, University of Tennessee graduate. I spent my career as an electrical/instrumentation engineer/project manager. I managed the design and construction of major aerospace test facilities at Arnold Center in Tullahoma, Tenn., while working for the Air Force.

While working for the Navy with the Atlantic Division of the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, I was project manager for all Navy medical facilities in the Norfolk, Va., area and the Camp Lejeune Naval Hospital in North Carolina. I was also responsible for projects in the Caribbean, Europe, Africa and Iceland.

While previously serving on the commission, I was chairman of the building commission and established files (which had never existed) on all county owned properties searching out titles and establishing values for insurance purposes. I also served on the Upper Cumberland Development Committee which started the Highway 141 Improvement Project.

In any project, it takes someone or a group to have a vision to get it started or it can't become a reality.

Vision is what I would like to bring to the county commission. I think my experience as a commissioner and an engineer/project manager can help the county mayor establish a vision, create a plan, set a goal and bring Trousdale County into the 21st Century.

I ask the citizens of District 10 to give me one more shot at it. I will represent each of you in a fair and equal way acting on your advice, complaints and observations. I will respond to all questions and requests.

Please vote for me as commissioner of District 10 in the Trousdale County General Election Aug. 7.

Your vote will be greatly appreciated.
