The 15th Judicial District Drug Court Program is proud to announce a referral relationship with the Nashville Building and Construction Trades Council and representatives of the AFL-CIO and specifically the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers).

The Drug Court Program, which provides community-based treatment and supervision of non-violent offenders with a drug or alcohol addiction, now has a training resource to assist offenders in career development.

Often, due to a participant’s prior arrest record, starting a career is very difficult. Representatives from the building trades have stepped forward to provide training and employment options that previously would not have been available for many of the participants.

John Wootten, Jr., 15th Judicial District Drug Court Judge, states that training and career placement is vital to the participants’ re-entry to the community. He further states that employment provides the participant with a feeling of self-worth and financial independence that many have never experienced in the past.
