A juvenile suspect was in custody Friday evening after a pursuit along Highway 231.
According information provided by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a THP trooper in Wilson County attempted to initiate a traffic stop of a 2002 Ford Mustang at approximately 4:50 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Philadelphia Road and Highway 231N. The driver allegedly attempted to flee, continuing up 231 for about a mile and a half into Trousdale County.
The suspect eventually stopped in the roadway and fled on foot, with the trooper pursuing on foot. A passenger in the vehicle then got behind the wheel and drove off. Neither that suspect nor the vehicle had been located as of press time, according to THP.
Trousdale County deputies were summoned along with another THP trooper, who set up a perimeter to search for the suspect. A THP helicopter was also utilized in the search.
Trousdale Sheriff Ray Russell said the suspect was eventually spotted walking along Highway 231 by a deputy. A perimeter was set up and the suspect was taken into custody without incident shortly before 8:30 p.m.
The suspect was identified by Russell and THP as a 17-year-old juvenile from Davidson County and was transported by THP. No further information on charges was immediately available.
