Even in a small, simple town it seems there is so much that you may drive by and not even notice upon first glance. Hartsville is filled with so much history, beauty and hidden treasures.

One of those treasures is a small business at 118 Rogers Street with a name that gets the mind working when you notice it.

Wife-n-Laws is a dream come true for anyone who enjoys the art of refinishing furniture and seeing something old and ordinary turn it into something beautiful and unique.

Priscilla Holder has been repurposing furniture for over 30 years. She began in a building on her husband’s family business property, the Livestock Market Stockyard here in town, and by selling her pieces in a friend’s antique shop.

From there, Holder began working with Charneal Smith, in which the name Wife-N-Laws came to be. Charneal is the ex-wife of Priscilla’s husband. Seeing no reason to have any hard feelings, the two turned their family situation into a friendship and business. They were selling their furniture at multiple sales and Priscilla, along with her husband and friend Vicki Burgess, ended up opening their current location last summer.

While most of her business was coming from sales such as the Sweet Tea and Shopping event in Gallatin and custom orders from customers in surrounding cities, Hartsville has really taken notice of their quality work lately.

Browsing around her shop, there is so much to take in as you are mentally redecorating your entire home with the beautiful, quality pieces filling the building: farmhouse tables, coffee tables made from vintage furniture and many unfinished pieces waiting to come to life.

Aside from creating home masterpieces, Priscilla plays a big role at The Stockyard with 300 head of cattle, doing everything from weighing them, bottle-feeding the newborns, billing and office work and everything else involved with the business. She also loves her role as grandmother to her four grandchildren. She has a life filled with hard work, creativity, family and friends with roots here in our small town that she is proud to call home.

Our community is filled with so much talent and Wife-n-Laws is proof. Make sure to stop in and get to know Priscilla and check out the gems she has created. You can also find her pieces at Sweet Tea and Shopping in Goodlettsville and on Facebook at facebook.com/Wife-n-Laws-292046834162782/.

For those ideas you have for your own home, Holder can make those come to life as well with custom orders being a big part of her business. Enjoy this hidden treasure and keep your eyes out for more local business information coming your way soon.
