Samuel Barnabas Collins Jr., age 61, of Hartsville, passed away Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016 at Trousdale Medical Center.
Barney was born in Fort Belvoir, Va., on March 31, 1955 to Leathie Ethel Satterfield Collins and Samuel Barnabas Collins Sr., who preceded him in death.
Survivors are: sister, Rannye (Jerry) Robertson of Hartsville; niece, Janna (Corey) Kirby; two nephews, Larren (Heather) Walrond, Darren (Kristin) Walrond; great-nieces and nephews, Kaydence, Wyatt, Elyssa, Abbie and Weston Walrond and Valerie and Vanessa Kirby.
Barney was a gentle soul who loved the Lord, friends and his church family spanning 40 years with the Church of the First Born. Conversation and movies were his favorite entertainment. He had perseverance, as demonstrated when he overcame dyslexia and completed his high school education. Barney treated everyone equally and his longest employment, at the Middle Tennessee Mental Institute, was a testament to that, whether worker or patient.
