Samuel Turner, age 71, of Westmoreland, passed away Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017.
Sam was a man of principles, humor and charisma. He was regarded as a friend by everyone he met.
Master Sergeant (Retired) Turner served in the U.S. Army for 22 years, including three tours of duty in Vietnam, and earned many decorations for his service. He was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor, a Purple Heart and the Meritorious Service Medal, among many others.
After retiring, Mr. Turner continued in service to his country as a Department of Defense civilian for another 20 years.
Sam was preceded in death by: his father, Jack Laverne Turner, his mother, Martha Rey Turner (nee Reynolds); his brother, David Arthur Turner, all of Sacramento, CA.
He is survived by: his loving wife of 49 years, Kristy Hart Turner of Westmoreland; son, Jeff (Lyzette) Turner of Woodbridge, VA; son, Travis (Ricki) Turner of Portland; daughter, Sammie (Jason) McDougall of Westmoreland; five grandsons; two granddaughters; brother, Ron Turner of Sacramento, CA.
