Delbert Dies

Services for Mr. Dies were 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at Anthony Funeral Home with Bro. Breck Patterson officiating. Interment is in the Hartsville Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Dies, 61, of Hartsville, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at Riverside Medical Center, Carthage.

Survivors include: son, Derek (Lindsi) Dies of Hartsville; daughter, Miranda (Thomas Payne) Dies of Hartsville; grandchildren, Kasen Payne and Mallory Dies and brother, Samuel (Janie) Dies of Chickasha, Okla.

Pallbearers were Doug Haney, Ronnie Tucker, Joe Maberry, Mary Merryman, Bill Badger, Bill Huffines and John Claridy.

Anthony Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

 

Eva Frances Wilburn Fielder

Funeral services were conducted Dec. 1 at Shackelford Funeral Home in Waynesboro, led by First Christian Church elder Randy Morris. Interment was in Shields Cemetery, with Bro. Bobby Pinckley officiating and Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing.

Mrs. Fielder, 99, of Waynesboro, Tenn., passed away Nov. 29, 2012 at Wayne Medical Center. A native of Hartsville, Tenn., Mrs. Fielder graduated from Trousdale County High School at age 15. She attended Tennessee Technology in Cookeville for two years and graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 1942. She taught 33 years in Tennessee public schools, including two years in Trousdale County, two in Robertson County and 29 years in Wayne County until her retirement in 1978. She was a member of Waynesboro First Christian Church and charter member of Alpha Rho's Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma honorary education fraternity.

Mrs. Fielder was preceded in death by her husband, James Harris Fielder; father, Booker Wilburn; mother, Cynthia Johnson Wilburn; brother, C.H. Wilburn; sisters, Grace Wilburn Oldham and Mary Louise Wilburn; nephew, Harold Oldham; nieces, Mary Frances Oldham Gregory and Melba Oldham Burnett; and son-in-law, Sandy Crye.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Cynthia Diamond (Gerald) of Shawnee, Kan., and Virginia Dodge Fielder of Boone, N.C.; three grandchildren, Camille Diamond Krebs (Michael) of Brooklyn, N.Y., David Harris Diamond of Merriam, Kan., and Andrew Frank Diamond of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two great-grandchildren, Samuel Harris Krebs and Lillian Eve Krebs, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and sister-in-law, Virginia Fielder Hobbs of Waynesboro.

She also is survived by two nephews, William Oldham of St. George, Utah, and Frank Wilburn of Tupelo, Miss.; three nieces, Marjorie Oldham Pruitt of Antioch, Tenn., Alice Oldham Duke of Mobile, Ala., and Betty Wilburn McAnulty of Brentwood, Tenn.; first cousins, Raymond Johnson of Hartsville and Katherine Taylor of Carthage, Tenn.; and special loved ones, Sue A. Greer of Indio, Calif., and Frankie Sue Pulley of Waynesboro.

Active pallbearers included Herbert Brewer, Harry G. (Sonny) Corn, David Diamond, John Hobbs, Jake Pulley and Ray Pulley. Honorary pallbearers included Andy Diamond, Jerry Diamond, Raymond Johnson, Lige Hollis, Tom McAnulty, Bill Oldham and Frank Wilburn.

Deep appreciation is expressed to doctors and staff at Wayne Medical Center; to Deaconess and Volunteer home care agencies; to special caregivers Jan Berry, Margaret Dixon Brown, Melinda Kelley, and Dianne Pitts; and to fellow teachers, former students, relatives, neighbors, church family and other friends during Mrs. Fielder's long and wonderful life.

 

Edward "Ed" Garrett Ray

Services for Mr. Ray will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at Anthony Funeral Home with Elder Jeff Blackwell officiating. Interment will be in Dixon Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from noon until 9 p.m. and 10 a.m. until service time Thursday.

Mr. Ray, 63, of Hartsville, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at Trousdale Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Graves; parents, John and Hazel Ray; brothers, William, J.B. and George Ray and sisters, Ruby White and Mary Ray.

Survivors include: daughter, Melissa Ray-Shrum of Bethpage; brothers, David (Dorothy) Ray and Patrick Ray, both of Hartsville and sisters, Ora Raney of Hartsville and Gelema Gregory of Bethpage.

Pallbearers will be Jason Ray, Jonathan Langford, Danny Ray, Dennis Denning, Tommy Scruggs and Popalo Morales. Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Raney, Barry Myers, Howard Moss and Roger Ray.

Anthony Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Margaret Irene Scruggs

Services for Mrs. Scruggs were 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Anthony Funeral Home with Elder Kenneth Graham officiating. Interment is in the Hartsville Cemetery. 

Mrs. Scruggs, 73, of Hartsville, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at her residence.

Survivors include: sons, Stanley (Deborah) Scruggs of Westmoreland, Jeff (Janet) Scruggs of Hartsville and Tim (Teresa) Scruggs of Hartsville; daughter, Patsy Scruggs of Pleasant Shade; six grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and brother, J.T. (Emma) Warner of Hartsville.

Pallbearers were Wesley Bransford, Ronald Johnson, Duston Johnson, James Scruggs, Frank Griffin and James Dudley.

Anthony Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
