TB&T helps hungry neighbors through local penny drive
Wilson Bank & Trust Community Financial Centers has joined an area-wide penny drive to assist Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee, and Trousdale Bank & Trust will be collecting change for donations over the next few months.
"Through this time of year, if people could save their change and bring it back here, we will get it delivered," said TB&T President Glen Haynes. "It is such a good cause, surely it would be something that people would want to do."
In early November, TB&T began displaying collection jars in conjunction with Ms. Cheap’s annual penny drive to benefit Second Harvest. The bank is also providing collection cans for anyone who wants to gather change themselves, and filled cans may also be returned to any office of Wilson Bank & Trust Community Financial Centers. The promotion will continue through the end of January.
“Giving back to our communities has been a major focus for our 25th anniversary all year, and the penny drive is a great way to help on an even larger scale,” WB&T CEO Randall Clemons said. “Second Harvest helps the hungry in every county and community we serve, and we’re glad to be part of that effort.”
Each of Wilson Bank’s full-service offices in Wilson, DeKalb, Davidson, Rutherford, Smith, Sumner and Trousdale counties is collecting change and providing collection cans that individuals can take home and bring back. That list of donation/pick-up/drop-off locations includes the bank’s 25th full-service office that just opened in Hendersonville on Nov. 13.
Besides the penny drive, Wilson Bank & Trust undertook another special promotion this holiday season that has involved providing Christmas shopping gift cards for 20 families. WB&T and its employees will also continue to assist other Christmas charities they support annually, and next month the bank will conclude a year-long employee giving program that has provided items like food, clothing, and dry goods to local help centers.
Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee works to feed hungry people and solve hunger issues in the community, serving as a central distribution center for companies, groups and individuals who wish to help provide food for the hungry.
