Shoulders finalist in Heisman program
Trousdale County High School multi-sport athlete Sydney Shoulders was recently recognized as a State Finalist in the Wendy's High School Heisman Award program. She was one of 20 finalists.
Shoulders plays softball and basketball for the Lady Jackets.
"She is a phenomenal athlete in whatever sport she plays," Coach Jeremy Wilhelm said. "Her leadership skills on and off the court have encouraged those around her her to be the best they can be."
Of the 45,000 seniors who applied nationwide, 1,355 applicants came from Tennessee. These finalists embody the Heisman spirit of hard work and dedication through their outstanding achievements in athletics, academics and community/school leadership.
Just as the collegiate Heisman is known for being the highest award in college football, the Wendy’s High School Heisman, now in its 19h year, is one of the most esteemed awards at the high school level.
"[I am] Extremely proud of Sydney being nominated for this outstanding award," Coach Cecelia Stricker said. "Hard work and diligence has lead to her many successes."
