Martha Minnette “Net” Petty, age 82, of the Providence Community of Trousdale Co., passed away Monday, June 10, 2019 at the Trousdale Senior Living Center.

She was preceded in death by: parents, Oscar & Edna Kittrell; husband, Dene Petty; sister, Anne Linville.

Survivors are: son, Phillip (Beth) Petty of Lebanon; daughter, Leanne (Johnny) Baker of Murfreesboro; two grandchildren, John (Hanna) Petty & Trey Baker; sister, Dot Cornwell of Dixon Springs; expecting great-grandchild soon.

Deborah Alice Alvis, age 56, of Hartsville, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin.

She was preceded in death by: parents, Cass & Clara Eckel.

Gary Lee “Goo Goo” Satterfield, age 64, of Hartsville, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at his home.

Nancy Betty McCall, age 85, of Hartsville, passed away on May 1, 2019.

Wylna Marshall Beene Clinard

Wylna Marshall Beene Clinard, age 85, of Adairville, KY, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at NHC Healthcare in Springfield.

She was born in Hartsville, Tennessee, on March 11, 1934 to the late Aubrey Faust Marshall and Minnie Gregory Marshall.

After attending two years at Brenau University, a private girls school, she graduated from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville and later served on the Nashville Big Orange Club’s Board of Directors. She was a middle school teacher and basketball coach. Wylna was very well known as a local Nashville tour guide, helping start the special events department at Opryland Hotel. She was also a fashion and wardrobe consultant and volunteered for many groups over her years. Always active in church throughout her life, she attended Belmont Heights Baptist and ended her life attending Adairville Baptist Church where she was chairperson for the Dazzlin’ Diners.

She was preceded in death by: husband, Bobby Jo Beene.

She is survived by: husband, Walter Ray Clinard; son, Marshall LaClaire (Tammy) Beene of Murfreesboro; granddaughter, Aubrey Grace Beene of Nashville; sisters-in-law, Georgia Beene Phillips and Joyce Beene Lott, both of Henderson.

As an only child, growing up, Wylna’s cousins were her brothers and sisters. Later in life, her close friends were more like close family.

Cousins are Bill Gregory (Jacquelyn) of Grove, OK, Mary Alice Marshall Berghorn (Dave) of Gallatin, Wayne Marshall (Pat) of Nashville, Ott Gregory (Shelby) of Gallatin, Edward Wesley Marshall of Hartsville, Shirley Turner Smith of Hendersonville, Linda Turner Twelves of Mt. Juliet, Brenda Burrow Beasley of Dixon Springs, Sue Cornwell Smith of Pleasant Shade.

Special friends are Barbara O’Leary Carlton of Nashville, Linda Smith Dunning of Columbia, Joyce Brooks Taylor of Nashville, Beverly Gotto Sloan of Brentwood, Helen Stewart of Nashville and many many friends.

Rachel Cantrell Lynch

Rachel Cantrell Lynch, age 93, of Hartsville, passed away Monday, March 26, 2019 at Quality Health and Rehab in Lebanon.

Mrs. Lynch was born Feb. 28, 1926 in Pensacola. FL a daughter of the late Elias Henry Cantrell and Mary Virginia Wilson. She was married to the late Howard Weston Lynch, who passed away on Aug. 17, 2000.  She was also preceded in death by: son, William Henry Lynch on Nov. 2, 1945; sister, Mary Sue Wilson.

She was a retired factory worker and a Methodist.

Mrs. Lynch is survived by: nieces Kathy Komorek of Clinton Township, MI, Helene Peitsch of FL; friend and caregiver Kristi Carter of Carthage; cousins Don and Wilma Lynch of Clinton.

Mrs. Lynch’s remains rest at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes.

Graveside services and interment for Mrs. Lynch were conducted on Saturday, March 30, at the Gordonsville Cemetery. Bro Floyd Massey officiated.

Carolyn Sue Hudgens Harris

Carolyn Sue Hudgens Harris, age 70, formerly of Hartsville, more recently of Wadsworth, OH, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2019 at her home.

She was born Nov. 7, 1948 in Hartsville, to the late Buster and Marbrey Hudgens and was raised by her grandmother, Edna Ethel Smith.

She was preceded in death by: her former husband, David Steven Harris.

Carol is survived by: daughter, Leigh (Kevin) Wurzel of Wadsworth, OH; son, William Lynn Harris of Tennessee; four grandchildren, Joshua Aaron Mincey, Alexandria Harris, Brittany Harris, Courtney Harris; four great-grandchildren, Kaylee Weisen, Isaiah Mincey, Carson Mincey, River Dawson; sister, Teresa (Wanda Killebrew) Hudgens of Tennessee.

Paulette Gregg, age 72, of Lincoln, IL, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, at Kindred Hospital in Peoria.

Burial was in Steenbergen Cemetery in Mt. Pulaski.

Paulette was born on October 8, 1946, in Hartsville, Tennessee, the daughter of Roy Ladd and Virginia Neal Woodmore Ladd. She was united in marriage with Lawrence W. Gregg in 2002. He passed away on July 8, 2017.

She is survived by three sons, Darrell Jenkins, Brian (Angie) Jenkins, Aaron Poe; and four grandchildren, Kayla (Justin) Taylor, Justin Jenkins, Jade Poe, Randy Poe.

Paulette was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Tommy Ladd.

She had been employed by Community Action in Lincoln for over 30 years. Her hobbies included fishing, taking care of her yard, and helping people.

Mai Nell Hardaway

Mai Nell Hardaway, age 82, of Castalian Springs, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2019.

She was preceded in death by: husband of 34 years, Cecil Hardaway; parents, Hubert and Mary Reed, Louise and Merle Swinea.

Suzanne Phillips

Suzanne Phillips, age 75, of Dixon Springs, passed peacefully into eternal rest at 4:53 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019 at her Cato Road farm home with her husband and daughter at her bedside. She was being lovingly cared for by her family and Aseracare Hospice of Nashville.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, March 1 from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home with Sam Willcut officiating. Burial followed in the Phillips family lot in the West Section of the Dixon Springs Cemetery beside her father-in-law, Isham Phillips, and mother-in-law, Lucy Wilburn Phillips.

The only child of the late James Lane Gann Jr. and Margaret Reese Gann, she was born Margaret Suzanne Gann in Nashville on December 9, 1943.

Following the death of her mother at the age of 37 in 1952, her father was married to the former Lucille (Lucy) Fox who died at the age of 76 on Jan. 7, 1987.

On June 23, 1967, Suzanne was united in marriage to Dixon Springs Community native Thomas Noel Phillips at the home of her parents in Joelton.

Mrs. Phillips was a 1962 graduate of David Lipscomb High School in Nashville and graduated in 1967 from the U.T. School of Medicine in Memphis with a Bachelor Degree in Medical Technology and began what would be a 43-year career with Baptist Hospital in Nashville.

In 2010 she retired from Baptist, now St. Thomas Mid-Town Hospital, with the position of Laboratory Director.

Mrs. Phillips was a member of the Crieve Hall Church of Christ in Nashville and after she and her husband retired and returned to Dixon Springs they attended the Dixon Springs Church of Christ.

Surviving in addition to her husband of almost 52 years are their two children, Noelle Phillips (Jay Potts) of Denver, CO, Curt (Catherine) Phillips of Marietta, GA; two grandsons, David and Robert Phillips.

The Phillips family requests memorials be made to the Smith County Animal Rescue Organization.

Tommie Glen Harper

Tommie Glen Harper, age 71, of Bethpage, passed away Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019 at White House Health Care.

He was preceded in death by: parents, Johnny “Buck” Harper and Mable Harper; eight brothers, Farris, John, Bobby, Kenneth, Bratton, Billy Sam, Odie Dean & James Garrett Harper.

Joyce Knowles Badger

Joyce Knowles Badger, age 82, of Lebanon, passed away quietly Saturday, Feb. 16 at the Pavilion Senior Living Center after a short illness surrounded by family.

She was born August 24, 1936, in Warren County to Robbie (Davis) and Elbert Knowles and graduated in 1954 from Central High School in McMinnville.

Joyce earned a bachelor’s degree in English and education from Tennessee Tech, and two master’s degrees in education before beginning her career at Lebanon City School District. She taught second grade at McClain School before becoming supervisor of instruction until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; sister, Reva Pedigo of McMinnville; brother, Ralph Vanderpool of Pulaski.

Joyce is survived by: her husband of 43 years, Dr. Robert H. Badger, D.D.S., of Lebanon; identical twin sister, Loyce (Charlie) Bradshaw of Lebanon; three stepchildren, Betty (Al) Zettegren of Hendersonville, Woody Badger of Hartsville, Bill (Belinda) Badger of Hartsville; six step-grandchildren: Zach (Becky) Zettergren, Rob Badger, Liz (John) Allers, Clay Badger, Wyatt Badger, and Taylor (Brooke) Badger; seven step-great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces, Richard (Alene) Pedigo of McMinnville, Bobby Vanderpool of Pulaski, Aimee (Jim) Maytag of Colorado Springs, CO, Leann (Andy) McGinnis of Anchorage, AK, Sammye (Vince) Pokryfki of Wasilla, AK, and Jay Croft of Atlanta.
