Mary Jean Sandman, age 90, of Allardt, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2019 at her home.
Mrs. Sandman was born Nov. 3, 2928 in Knoxville. She was married to Richard (Bud) Sandman, a retired officer in the U.S. Navy who preceded her in death on March 15, 2008. She was also preceded in death by: parents, Charles Dexter Fairfield & Ora Ruth (Jackson) Fairfield; sister, Martha Ruth Fairfield; grandchildren, Alexis & Nicole Rudeen.
Mrs. Sandman was a bookkeeper and homemaker. She grew up in Knoxville and was a beauty queen at the University of Tennessee. She was great at sewing, cooking and gardening, and enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.
Survivors are: son, Scott (Laquita) Sandman of Allardt; daughter, Sherri (Randy) Rudeen of Flower Mound, TX; seven grandchildren, Grace, Madeline & Abigail Sandman, Julie, Sara, Jordyn & Sydney Rudeen.
Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, June 22 at Lynnhurst Cemetery in Knoxville, where she will be laid to rest.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
